Sometimes life imitates art. And sometimes art (specifically the make-believe acting my girls indulge in) imitates life.
Two examples:
Last weekend the girls went, for the first time, to a wedding. No idea why this was the first time, but it was. They were over the moon excited, especially since they got to see pretty Lee, a dear friend, all dressed in white. It was also a good warm up for this coming October when they will be flower girls in my brother's wedding (excited doesn't come close to how they feel about that!). To make it even better (and help make their play more accurate) they also attended the rehearsal where I think Hannah was making mental notes. This afternoon they put it into practice when Hannah married her new stuffed Giraffe with Abby playing the role of pastor and officiating. I must say, the wording was quite accurate and the main part they forgot was the little mini-sermon (what is that called?), most likely because that was the part they paid the least amount of attention to. I find it amusing that when they do the "Here's comes the Bride" song they have to be color accurate, so our bride was "all dressed in blue, with silver and some white" because Hannah's princess dress did not fit the traditional white wedding gown.
Another example from today's play was when the girls played "Let's take the car into the auto shop and I'll pick you up!" I didn't find this game funny. Especially when Abby was saying that the car was shaking and driving funny. One drove the broken car while the other one followed and pick up the stranded sister at the auto shop. Guess what we did on Thursday?
